Vicky Brake has had to withdraw because her ride, Call Again Cavalier, has
been sold to Caroline Pratt. This gives Caroline two horses on the Long List. **According
to Horse & Hound - 15 January, 2004, Rodney Powell's Mount Mahor Sweep,
who placed 24th at Burghley, 2003, " ... tested positive in a routine
drug test at Burghley Masterfoods Horse Trials last September. "Peter
Durand, BE chairman, confirmed that traces of Betamethasone and Phenylbutazone
(bute) were found in a sample taken by the FEI. "The
matter will be dealt with at an FEI judicial meeting in March, when Powell will
be invited to give veterinary evidence. "Powell
was aware that Betamethazone (an anti-inflammatory steroid that can be injected
into joints) had been administerd, but says that it was done so according to FEI
guidelines. But the presence of bute remains a mystery." "The
first team training session will take place at Waresley Park, Bedfordshire, in
February - 2 days of training with Yogi Breisner, Kenneth Clawson and Tracie Robinson.
The squad will be reviewed after Badminton." (per Event Rider) Irish

Sports Council funding are: Sue Shortt, Mark Kyle, Jonty Evans, Sasha Harrison,
Edmond Gibney, Niall Griffin, Sherelle Duke, Trevor Smith and Pip Peters. (Jane
O'Flynn, Austin O'Connor, Eric Smiley and Michael Ryan will be watched by selectors.)
