Mosser Wins Eventing World Cup Qualifier and USEA Gold Cup Series Event at the
Over The Walls Horse Trials
Hardwick, MAAugust
1, 2004Bonnie Mosser of Coatesville, PA, won the Eventing World Cup
Qualifier and U.S. Eventing Association (USEA) Gold Cup Series event at the Over
The Walls Horse Trials at Great Meadowbrook
Farm in Hardwick, MA. (Bonnie
is pictured at the left in a photo taken by Cora Cushny at Radnor, in 2003.) Mosser
and Jenga, a bay Thoroughbred gelding, jumped cleanly over the final
days stadium jumping course to finish with a three-phase score of 51.8 penalty
points. Finishing in second place with 52.1 penalties was Nathalie Bouckaert
of Chatsworth, GA, riding West Farthing. With the riders going in inverse
order of standings, Bouckaert, a two-time individual Gold Medalist at the North
American Young Riders Championships, completed her penalty-free ride first
to force Mosser to have to ride clean in order to clinch the win. Mosser and Jenga
were up to the task and held on for the win by a mere three-tenths of a point
in the final U.S. qualifier for the Eventing World Cup Final which will be held
October 20-24 in Pau, France. Nathalie kept the pressure on but Jenga
did the job, said Mosser who had taken the lead with no jumping and 8.4
time penalties on cross country after finishing tied for third in dressage with
a score of 43.4. Im very proud of him. (Canada's Penny
Rowland finished third with Windswept on a score of 58.9. Michael
Pollard and SS Jett placed fourth.) Kim
Morani Wins National Advanced Horse Trials Championship for the Jack Le Goff Trophy
British
rider Gillian Clissold (GBR) rode Sports Car to the win in the Advanced
Championship with a three-phase score of 40.4 penalty points. Kim Morani
of Worton, MD, and Test Run finished in second place with a score of 43.48. Morani
was awarded the Jack Le Goff Trophy as winner of the National Advanced Horse Trials
Championship which is open only to U.S. riders. Winning the Le Goff Trophy was
extra sweet for Morani who had bred Test Run and trained him all the way to the
Advanced Level. This is a great win for me and for a horse whom I
love very much, she said. Competitors at the Over the Walls Horse
Trials included riders from the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, Ireland and New Zealand.
In addition to the featured classes, there were also five Preliminary and Young
Rider division classes. Over the Walls is a fantastic event, said
Sean Brescia, Director of the USEA Gold Cup Series. It was a wonderful addition
to our series and clearly ranks as one of the finest events we have. In
addition to witnessing top-level horses and riders galloping over green fields
overlooking the pristine Central Massachusetts Town of Hardwick, spectators at
the 2004 Over The Walls Horse Trials had the chance to enjoy shopping at the events
trade fair with gifts for home, people and pets, plus horse supplies, tack and
equipment, and everything for the horse enthusiast. Final
