Aston Le Walls Advanced Section G Results

Mulberry Insurance CCI**** G

Aston Le Walls was the final run for many Olympic Team members from Australia, Great Britain, Ireland and New Zealand, as well as for individuals from Czechoslovakia, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands Antilles and Portugal.

After the Dressage Phase, the Leader Board looked like this:

Next came Show Jumping with the following results for the top 10 after Dressage:

Moonfleet had 1 rail for 4 faults

Tamarillo, Cornerman and Primmore's Pride Show Jumped clean

Tangleman had one rail for 4 faults

Ringwood Cockatoo ". . . had a meltdown in show jumping. . . " according to Emily Pocock, an English friend, for 22 faults

Shear H2O came close to the proverbial "melt down" with four rails for 16 faults

The Psephologist and Mr Pracatan Show Jumped clean

Minuto and King Solomon had two down for 8 faults

Over To You pulled one rail for 4 faults

Sarah Cutteridge (GBR) (T) finished 34th with The Wexford Lady on a score of 71.2 (D - 34.0; SJ - 12; 25.2 time XC). The members of the British Team did not have the gas pedal all the way down as is noted by their Cross Country time penalties: Law - 12.4; Fox-Pitt - 21.6; Funnell - 24.0: Brakewell - 17.6; and Cutteridge 25.2).

The Irish Team members finished as follows:

The British Team will ship to Athens on August 7th, 10 day before the Eventing competition begins on order to acclimatise to the heat of Greece.

The fifth member of the British Team, Sarah Cutteridge with The Wexford Lady finished 34th (D - 34.0; SJ - 12; 25.2 time XC)

John Williams, named to the USEF Team for Athens with Carrick, ran Sloopy, who is headed to the Burghley CCI****, in the D & H Chudley's Novice "D" Section, hors de concours. Sloopy's score was as follows: D - 28.1; SJ - 4; 3.6 time XC, for a final score of 35.7. Had Sloopy not been running HC, he would have won this Section. (John and Sloopy are pictured at the right jumping out of the Sunken Road at Rolex-Kentucky, 2004.)

Cindy Rawson ran The Gatecrasher in Adv Section "I". He finished 11th on 59.5. (D - 38.3; SJ - 4; 17.2 time XC). She also ran Ashdale David's Way on Advanced Section "J". This pair got 35.0 in Dressage. Initially, the Official Results stated that the pair was eliminated on XC. That has since been changed to "Retired on XC) (Sarah Futh, an owner of David's Way tells eventingetc that Cindy had a fall when the horse ". . . hung a leg at a big stone wall. . . and popped Cindy off. Because her back was sore, Cindy decided to retire.)

Other Americans who competed were Joseph Giannamore and Karen Reuter Niklasson.
