Auchinlech, Brazilian Team Outing

The Brazilian Team Outing at Auchinlech, July 24 &25

Scotland's great eventer Ian Stark, twice a Badminton winner, as well as an Olympian for Great Britain, has taken on the job of Coach to the Brazilian Eventing Team for the Athens Olympics. The Team recently arrived in the UK, from Brazil, where it is winter. They had their final outing before the Games at the Auchinlech One Day Event, in Ayrshire, Scotland.

The Advanced competition in which the Brazilians ran was won by New Zealand's Caroline Powell with Lenamore on a score of 46.2. Caroline also placed second riding Softly Softly, who had a score of 50.8. Craig Anderson (GBR) was third with Royal Rumpus. There were 36 starters and 30 completions.

The highest placed Brazilian was Carlos Para, who finished 9th, riding Land Hope, on a score of 60.2 (D - 36.9; SJ - 4; XC 22.8 time).

Other Brazilian finishers were as follows:

11th - (T) Andre Para, Land Heir - 65.3 (D 39.7; SJ 8; XC 19.6 time)

14th - (T) Sergio Marins (BRA), Valle Rally LF - 72.1 (D - 44.5; Sj - 4; XC 23.6 time).

16th - Eduardo Pacheco (BRA), Planetarius, 78.4 (D 40.0; SJ 4; XC 34.4 time).

18th - Carlos Para (BRA), Political Mandate, 79.3 (D 40.7; SJ 21; XC 17.6 time)

19th - (T) Rafael de Gouveia (BRA), EHK Mozart - 79.6 (D 42,4; SJ 12; XC 25.2 time)

21st - Fabricio Salgado (BRA), Buterfly - 81.1 (D 40.3; SJ 12; XC 28.8 time)

22nd - (T) Remo Tellini (BRA), Especial Reserve - 82.5 (D - 39.7; SJ 12; XC 30.8 time)

26th - (T) Raul Senna (BRA), Super Rocky - 93.8 (D 36.2; SJ 8; XC 20 jumping, 29.6 time)

28th - Marco Jorge (BRA), AJ Arasbesco - 101.2 (D 44.8; SJ 12: XC 44.4 time)

It is interesting to note that, unlike the Pan American Championships, all the Brazilians, who started, finished. Ian Stark has made great progress! Not a single Brazilian Show Jumped clean. Are they ready for Athens? - time will tell.
