Sara Cavanagh Schwartz ia the Editor of
The Horse of Delaware Valley

Monday morning, and the wind has come up again.

George's (Morris) first comment was "Poor Anky," her horse is HOT and this won't help him - consensus is that judges wanted to get her a medal, but that there's been so much talk about her score in the Nations' Cup that if she blows again they'll mark it.

Before I go (to the competition), some comments about Greece:

The Spectators Pavillion, run by the Brits is air conditioned with TV, but, although I haven't eaten there, I here food is hugely expensive - 40 Euros for lunch I think. After the Dutch rider went (he had to have below a 70.5 for us to medal) the entire place exploded with cheers and clapping - good thing no other nations were there!

We've been to three tavernas - the first, on the beach, was completely empty when we arrived - we thought it was closed. But it had liquor and pretty good food. Most of menu had English translation. Next one we went to, also on the beach, a friend of George's and I had shrimp - not shrimp like we know it, but like little lobsters. It is priced by the kilo - I had 2 and I think we had 6 all together - the cost of dinner was over $100.

Most tavernas have only wine and beer - there's one at bottom of our driveway, which is shared by 3 villas. We went there one night, family run and no English - so Mama took us into the kitchen to show us what we could have! George was appalled - I'm getting out of this hot kitchen. No air conditioning anywhere.

Nice supermarket at end of our street called Champion - but VERY small selection of meat, and nothing you can (identify) - there are whole chickens and slabs of what looks like a hunk of roast beef - I got one once and tried to cut off a small piece to fry like steak - it was very tough.
.
Off to dressage.
