Saturday,
April 9 - Show Jumping Day
First
eventringetc must start with apologies to both Mrs.
Annie Jones and to Bruce Duchessois for mistakenly mixing up their horses placings
in the Dressage Phase of the Chatsworth CIC-W***, which took place on Friday,
April 8th.

Mrs.
Annie Jone' The Foreman actually finished second in the Dressage on a score of
45.0, while Bruce Dushessois' Hannigan placed fourth on a score of 46.9. (Phillip
and The Foreman are pictured above in the Dressage Phase.)
Meanwhile,
the CIC-W*** Show Jumping took place beginning at 11 AM on Saturday, under sunny
skies, in beautiful warm Georgia weather. Happily, the footing in the all-weather
show jumping arena matched the day and was in excellent condition for all competitors.
There
were only three double clears registered over Richard Lamb's testing Show Jumping
course and Australia's Phillip Dutton owned two of them. First West Grove, Pennsylvania's
favorite eventer jumped a double clear with Bruce
Duchessois'
Hannigan to remain on his overnight score of 46.9. Then Phillip duplicated the
feat with Mrs. Annie Jones' The Foreman, last year's Fair Hill International CIC***
champion. (Phillip and The Foreman are pictured at the right.) Phillip
now stands first with the Foreman (45.0) and second with Hannigan (46.9).
Phillip
said, "It's a good course. It doesn't let up anywhere."
Kim
Severson, of Keene, Virginia, who had been in second place with Mrs. Linda Wachtmeister's
Winsome Adante, dropped to fourth when the 12 year old British bred gelding dropped
two rails for a two day score of 50.5. Kim commented, "That was a tough course.
I had a terrible warm up. That (Dan's Show Jumping round) was good compared to
the warm up!"
Darren
Chiacchia, who had been third over night with Dr. Timothy Holecamp's
Windfall
II, remained in third position having had one rail down for 4 faults as well as
1 time fault for a two day score of 50.3, which put the Trakehner stallion 5.3
faults behind the leader. (Darren and Windfall II are pictured at the left.)
Darren commented, "Rich built a great course. It was very challenging
- a great preparation for Rolex."
Amy
Tryon is in fifth place on 52.4 riding Poggio II. Kim is sixth with Royal Venture
on 52.8. Australian and USEF Olympians hold all six of the top six places in the
CIC-W***!
The
proud possesor of the third double clear was Nathalie Bouckaert-Pollard who rode
West Farthing to a fault free, time fault free, double clear to slide into seventh
place on a score of 55.3.

Not
to be out done by his daughter Nathalie, Carl Bouckaert, the genial host of the
Chatsworth CIC-W***, also had a double clear Show Jumping round, this
time in the Open Intermediate to take the lead with The Boomer on a score of 26.7
for the two days. (Carl and The Boomer are pictured at the right.) Marcia
Kulak, of Wellington, Florida, stands second with her own Mr. Glitz (29.6) and
fifth with Dr. Audrey Evans' Mack's Gold (35.7). Karen O'Connor, of the Plains,
Virginia, is third riding Dr. Maria Brazil's Bon Chance and fourth with Equestrian
Syndicate's recent British import Mr. Ripley.

Both
the CIC-W*** course and the Intermediate course have been changed to avoid the
boggiest areas.
