Rocking
Horse Farm, in Altoona, Florida, offered the first Advanced Division. of the 2005
season. 52 competitors ran in three Advanced Sections. They were offered the option
of riding Advanced Dressage Test "C" or "D". The vast majority
- 41 of the 52 - chose the former test.
In
Advanced Test "C", Section A, Jessica Pyle, riding Carte Blanche, placed
first on a score of 44.4, with no time faults over the John Williams designed
Cross Country course. Jennifer Libby with Draco placed second, a mere .9 of a
fault behind the leader. Jennifer and Draco had 2.8 time faults Cross Country.
Buck Davidson on Private Treaty also had 2.8 time faults Cross Country for a final
score of 48.5 and third place.
The Show Jumping phase, over a course
designed by Jan Brodkin was
difficult.
Only two competitors in Section A managed to show jump double clear - Nicole Shinton
(CAN) and King Billy, who placed 9th on a score of 59.0 and Denise Rath with Just
A Diplomat, who placed 10th, on a score of 64.8. In section B only one competitor
managed a double clear - Brittany Kart and Semper Fidelis placed 5th on a score
of 45.8.
Jennie
Jarnstrom (SWE), on Chant de Paix, won Advanced Test "C", Section B.
(Jennie and Chant de Paix are pictured at the right above jumping
into the Intermediate water at the American Eventing Championships.) This
pair had a double clear Cross Country, at Rocking Horse, for a final score of
39.7. Jonathan Holling, riding Lion King, placed second on a score of 41.1 with
3.6 time faults Cross Country. Imtiaz Anees (IND) placed third with Freetown,
having ridden a double clear Cross Country for a final score of 41.4, just .3
of a fault out of second place.
Darren
Chiacchia, and his Athens Olympic Bronze Medal Team mount Windfall II, won the
Advanced Test "D" Dressage Test. They ran a double clear Cross Country
and Show Jumped double clear to finish on their Dressage score of 32.9. (Darren
and Windfall II are pictured at the left in the Dressage Phase of the Modified
Section at Rolex-Kentucky.) Buck Davidson with Idalgo also had a double clear
Cross Country; but, 4 faults Show Jumping for a final score of 36.5 and second
place. Cricket Worthen and Broadstone Whitehall placed third, finishing on their
Dressage score of 37.1.

Intermediate
Sections
Buck
Davidson riding May I Tell You (32.5) and Wendy Lewis with Rampant Lion (39.1)
won sections of the Open Intermediate.
Bonner
Carpenter on Acapulco Jazz (41.6) won the Young Rider Open Intermediate.
Ralph
Holstein, who had led throughout most of the Radnor CCI** last fall, won the Intermediate
Rider Section on his Radnor mount Arctic Dancer (47.4).
