About Us
Southern Pines Horse Trials, March 18 -20, 2005

Friday, March 18, 2005, Dressage Day

Advanced

More than 55 Advanced horses competed in three Divisions at the Southern Pines Horse Trials, on Friday. Though people who travelled from the north ran into snow storms on both I-95 and I-77, the weather gods smiled on Southern Pines Friday. The Dressage tests took place under bright sunny skies with temperatures in the 50's.

The competition was fierce in Advanced Division "A", Dressage Test "D", with a mere 2.9 faults separating the top five finishers.

Michael Pollard, of Chatsworth, GA, leads the Division with SS Jett on a score of 29.6, .4 of a fault ahead of second place Corinne Ashton and Dobbin, who finished on 30.0. (Michael and SS Jett are pictured at the right above.)

Michael's wife Nathalie Bouckaert Pollard is in third place with West Farthing, just .8 of a fault adrift of her husband, on a score of 30.4.

Kim Severson and her Olympic Individual Silver Medal ride Winsome Adante are tied for 4th with Becky Holder and Courageous Comet. Both have scores of 32.5. Winsome Adante was uncharacteristically on the muscle. He broke twice during the trot extensions, though his canter work was excellent with particularly good flying changes of lead.

Amy Tryon is first and second in Advanced Test "C", Division "A". Amy leads with My Beau on a score of 28.6 and stands second with her Athens Olympic Games Bronze Team Medal ride, Poggio II. Poggio's score is 31.7. (Amy and My Beau are pictured at the left.)

Leslie Chelstrom is in third position riding Brio, whose score is 35.7.

Amy Tryon is also second in this Division, this time with Woodstock, whose score is 27.8, just .8 of a fault off the lead.

Stuart Black stands third, on 29.1, with his 2004 Radnor CCI** winner Fleeceworks Starlight.

The Advanced Cross Country for all three Divisions begins on Saturday at 12:33 PM.
