August 31 - The First Horse Inspection
THEY'RE
OFF!
Welcome to the 2005 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials which got
underway with the first Strongid-P horse inspection at 4.00pm. All the horses
(brought) forward passed and 63 go forward to dressage starting tomorrow under
the eyes of the ground jury of Angela Tucker (GBR), Alain James (FRA)
and Rulli Brill (NED).
British favourite Mary King
who rides Call Again Cavalier has already got in the prizes winning the
best turned out prize for the rider which was sponsored by Strongid-P
and judged by one of the worlds leading equestrian photographers Kit

Riders
from nine countries are taking part and include 14 who start at Burghley for the
first time.
Last years winner Australian Andrew Hoy,
is back to defend his title with a strong hand of horses, Master Monarch and Mr
Pracatan, both in the top six at Badminton in the spring.
Polly Jackson,
Philip Dutton, Nicola Tweddle, Andrew Nicholson, Kristina
Cook, John-Paul Sheffield, Leslie Law and Tristram
Owers also have two rides each.
British rider Oliver
Townend will be the dressage guinea pig with Topping an
opportune practice for the pair who compete at the European Championships at Blenheim
next week.
Polly Jackson, a former winner of the Best
Under 25 rider award will be the competition trailblazer with the more experienced
Limestone Rise. She also brings Two For Joy, the coloured 15.2hh with whom she
was third at Blenheim last year.

Australia's Phillip Dutton, who resides
in West Grove, PA, goes at 10:08 AM, on Thursday, with Mrs. Annie Jones' The Foreman
and at 2:32 PM, on Friday at 2:32 PM, on Friday with August Vettorino's Amazing
Odyssey.
Imtiaz Anees, who rides for India, but, lives
in Georgia, is scheduled to do his Dressage, on Freetown, at 12:10 PM Thursday.
Buck
Davidson, from New Jersey, rides Private Treaty for Luke Allen at 2:05 PM
on Thursday.
Plain Dealing Farm's Winsome Adante and Kim
Severson will enter the Dressage arena at 11:20 AM, on Friday.
