Preview

For the first time the Maui Jim Wayne Horse Trials will be offering a CIC** as well as a CIC*. There are 19 entries in the two star.

Among the notable competitors who will be in Illinois for the CIC** are.

Multiple Olympic Team Medalist Karen O'Connor, of The Plains, Virginia, will be bringing Joker's Wild and Mr. Ripley. The latter is fresh from a victory in a Preliminary Section at Groton House II, the last weekend in June. (Karen and Mr. Ripley are pictured at the right in the Dressage Phase at Red Hills this spring.)

Mike Huber will travel from Texas to ride Kittengala, formerly the ride of last year's Olympic Silver Medalist Kim Severson. Mike is a Selector for the USEF's Eventing Teams which compete internationally. Mike was a member of the USET's Team at the 1990 World Equestrian in Stockholm, Sweden.

Lucia Strini, very successful as a Young Rider, comes from Virginia to ride Addis Abba.

In the Advanced Section Dorothy Crowell, who lives in Kentucky, will ride El Guapo and Radio Flyer. (Dorothy and El Guapo are pictured at the left jumping into the last water at the Jersey Fresh CCI**, where they finished 9th.) Dorothy was the Individual Silver Medalist at the 1994 World Equestrian Games at The Hague, in the Netherlands, on the great Molokai.

Karen O'Connor has entered Upstage, who place 7th at the Rolex-Kentucky CCI****, this spring. Cathy Weischhoff, who also comes from the state of Kentucky, brings her Rolex-Kentucky 17th place ride Ocotillo.

In addition there are Preliminary, Training and Young Rider Sections as well as a USEA/Spalding Labs Young Event Horse Qualifier.
