Sunday,
June 25th -
Show Jumping Day The
following is from the Groton House web site:
If
you have been following this Website during the event, you know that we had to
deal with another bout of mother nature this weekend. Torrential rains started
Friday evening and continued periodically throughout Saturday. Needless to say,
the terrain became very slick and muddy, especially considering the recent flooding
in the area. The results below reflect the fact that many riders elected to withdraw
and save their horse for another day. In consideration of the conditions, the
XC speeds were reduced accordingly. Sunday morning was another washout until
about 45 minutes before the first horse on course. We prepared for the worst,
moving all jumping from two rings into a single venue: the sand warmup arena.
Although the course was tightly fit into the ring, the footing held up nicely
throughout the day. With only a slight drizzle and misting, Sunday actually ended
up better than expected, especially given the last-minute changes of venue and
confusion regarding the division order. The Groton House Farm grounds and
fence crew deserve an extra token of our appreciation. It was only through their
endless efforts spreading stone dust, dragging the ring, and extracting the unlucky
from being stuck in the mud that this event actually could have finished at all.
Thank you from all of the competitors, spectators, volunteers and staff. Advanced/Intermediate

Friday, June 23rd - Dressage Day The
weather along the east coast, and more specifically in Massachusetts, has been
horrid for weeks. It was so bad last weekend that Groton House I, which had been
heavily over subscribed, had to be cancelled. It is not much better this weekend. The
Dressage, better know as the Darren and Phillip Show, was held on
Friday; however, Sunday's Show Jumping has been moved to the sand ring. Advanced
