Sunday,
March 12 - Show Jumping Day
Australia's
Phillip Dutton riding Mrs. Annie Jones' The Foreman had two rails down in the
Show Jumping on Sunday. Nonetheless, he held on to first place
when
Leslie Law, Great Britain's reigning Olympic Gold Medalist, also had two rails
and also 2 time faults for a final score of 68.5 and a drop to third place. (Phillip
and The Foreman are pictured at the right in the Show Jumping Phase at the Rolex
Kentucky CCI****, last April.)
Yesterday,
in these pages, the following words appeared, "Jonathan Holling has been
on the verge of knocking on the door . . ." Well, scratch that! At
Red Hills, Holling knocked on the door, on Friday, when he finished fifth in the
Dressage. On Saturday, he opened the door with the fourth fastest clean run on
Cross Country to rise to third place. On Sunday, Jonathan and Lion King II jumped
one of four double clear Show Jumping rounds (from 25 competitors) and walked
right in to the living
room and had a large glass of success!
Holling,
who lives in Ocala, Florida, completed the Land Rover Burghley CCI**** several
years ago and was named as an alternate to the USEF Winter Training List for Eventing,
this year. (Jonathan and Lion King II are pictured at the left in the Show
Jumping Phase at the Fair Hill International CCI***, last October.)
Phillip
Dutton jumped another of the four double clear Show Jumping rounds to climb up
the ladder from 9th after Cross Country to fourth place.

Bobby's groom was giving out misinformation... the word is that he is OK; but,
has to stay in the hospital for a couple days. (His) horse is OK."
