April 7 - Cross Country Day
When
there are white caps in the water jump, you know the wind is blowing HARD! When
the temperature doesn't rise out of the forties all day long, you know the wind
is blowing COLD! That's how it was at The Fork on Cross Country Day.
CIC***-W
Kim
Severson and Winsome Adante were tied with John Holling and Lion King II for
the lead in the CIC***-W after the Dressage Phase. Kim
rode first in the Division and threw down the gauntlet when she and "Dan"
laid down a double clear Cross Country round, to finish the two phases
on their Dressage score of 40.3. (Kim and Winsome Adante are pictured at the
right jumping the Goose in the Water.)
Kim
and Winsome Adante were prepping for a trip to the Badminton CCI****, in England,
so a sharp run was in order.
Jonathan
Holling rode in the final quarter of the CIC***-W competitors. He
and
Lion King had a lovely round; but, it was not fast enough. The pair picked up
2.8 time faults for a two day score of 43.1 and a drop to second place. (Jonathan
and Lion King II are pictured at the left jumping the house just before the water.)
Becky
Holder's double clear Cross Country run with the gray Courageous Comet moved her
from fifth place to third place in this extremely competitive Section.
