Sunday, April 1 - Cross Country Day

Only seven of the original thirteen Advanced Intermediate competitors ran Cross Country at Morven on Sunday. Of these seven Missy Ranshousen and Critical Decision, who had been in fourth place, pulled up and retired after "The Oasis", the water jump, on Cross Country and Abby Blackadder riding Paparazzi did not finish.

Repeating their first place performance at Southern Pines, Corinne Ashton and Dobbin added only 6.4 time faults to their sixth place Dressage and Show Jumping score from Saturday, to finish on a score of 52.9 and win the section. (Corinne and Ashton are pictured at the right jumping the last element of The Oasis water jump.)

Melissa Hunsberger an Expedience held on to second place inspite of picking up 17.2 time faults on the Cross Country.

Saturday, March 31 Dressage and Show Jumping

Advance Intermediate

Stuart Black rode Fleeceworks Starlght to win the Dressage phase of the Advanced Intermediate Horse Trials at Morven Park, on the morning of Saturday, March 31st and then immediately proceeded to get himself eliminated in the Show Jumping by jumping fence # 4 as the first fence instead of fence # 1. These two fences were side by side in the arena.

Corinne Ashton and Dobbin, recent winners at Southern Pines, placed second in the Dressage phase and picked up 8 jumping faults and one time faults to drop to sixth place. Apparently this was not a good day to be a Dressage super star in the Advanced Intermediate Section!

This left the door open for William Coleman and K du Manoir. This pair placed third in the Dressage phase and Show Jumped double clear to take over the lead on Saturday evening.

Melissa Hunsberger riding Expedience and Jane Sleeper with New Moon had been tied for fifth after Dressage on scores of 41.7. Both Show Jumped double clears to move into a tie for second place.
