Seventy-six
horses are expected to trot up before the Ground Jury on Wednesday, October 17th,
at Fair Hill, Maryland. You can have your choice of times for the start of the
First Vererinarian Examination. If you believe the Omnibus, it starts at 3:00
PM. If you believe the web site, it
starts at 2:00 PM. This is clearly a no win situation!! If you get there in
time for a 2:00 PM start, it is SURE to start at 3:00., If you get there in time
for a 3:00 PM start you are SURE to have missed half of the competitors. What
a GREAT way to begin! My free advice - worth exactly what you pay for it - NOTHING
- is take a book to read for the extra hour you have to wait and head for a 2:00
PM start. Karen
O'Connor has entered four horses - Upstage, Allstar, Mandiba and Hugh Knows. (Karen
and Hugh Knows are pictured at the right above on Hugh Knows at Morven Park two
weeks ago.)
 Phillip
Dutton has entered three horses - Woodburn, Match Play II and The Foreman. (Phillip
and The Foreman are pictured at the left at Morven Park two weeks ago.) Boyd
Martin (AUS) (Ying Yang Yo and Neville Bardos), Donna Smith (NZL) (Clifton Kudos
and Rocket) and Stuart Black (Leader des Bieffes and Fleeceworks Mystere du Val)
are among those who have entered two horses each. Two
out of the three winners of Advanced Sections at Morven Park are entered - Cayla
Kitayama will run Esker Riada (Cayla and Esker Riada are pictured at
the right below.) and Ralph Holstein plans to ride Artic Dancer. (Ralph
and Artic Dancer are pictured at the left below.) Dressage
will begin on Thursday, October 18th, and continue on Friday October 19th. Good
luck on the start times for those phases.
