Fair Hill International CCI***

Darren Chiacchia leads after the Dressage Phase with Windfall. David O'Connor is second with Custom Made and third with Texas Pride. Corinne Ashton and Dobbin are in fourth place.

Radnor Hunt CCI**

World Equestrian Game stars placed first, second and third at the Radnor Hunt CCI**. David O'Connor led throughout with Nicki Henley. Kim Vinoski rose to second place on the strength of a double clear Cross Country round with Oliver Edgecombe. Australia's Phillip Dutton placed third with The Foreman. David and Kim were members of the USET's Gold Medal Team at the WEG. Phillip was the highest placed Australian at the WEG.

David O'Connor still holds the lead after an influential Show Jumping Phase; Mike Mendell is second; and Debbie Adams is third.

Olympians hold the first four places after a rain soaked Dressage Phase. David O'Connor is in first and second; Kim Severson-Vinoski is third; and Stephen Bradley is fourth.

Morven Park CCI* and Advanced Horse Trials

Kim Severson-Vinoski, fresh from her Team Gold Medal victory at the WEG, won one division of the CCI* with Aces High (45.87) from Vicki Baker and Fine China (47.18), and Mark Weissbecker and Swayne (49.56). Samantha Allen won the second division with Every Wish (50.87), from Doug Payne and Rise Above (52.83), and Clark Davis and Ziggy (53.74).

73 Advanced riders competed in three sections, in the last horse trial before the Fair Hill International CCI***. Section winners were Peter Green and Mind The Gap (44.0); John Wiulliams and Sloopy (36.8); and Will Faudree with Antigua (31.2).

Plantation Field

Phillip Dutton, the highest placed Australian at the WEG, returned home to the USA to win two Advanced Sections at Plantation Field with It's a Knockout and Nova Top as well as one Intermediate Section with The Foreman. For complete results see Event Results at left.

David O'Connor Stars at Groton House

David O'Connor won the Advanced Horse Trial for the Amanda Trophy with Giltedge, Short Listed for the WEG, and finished second with Custom Made, named as an Alternate for the WEG. Custom Made won the Volturno Trophy for the highest Advanced Dressage Score. (Complete results are available at www.grotonhousefarm.com.)

Saumur CCI***, May 23 - 26

Australia's Phillip Dutton, who resides in West Grove, PA, finished third at Saumur with Mrs. Nina Gardner's House Doctor (54.00) and 10th with It's a Knockout (56.41). (House Doctor is pictured right at Rolex-Kentucky, in 2001.) Saumur was won by the reigning European and Badminton Champion Pippa Funnell (GBR) with Jurassic Rising (52.20), while Belguim's Karen Donkers was second riding Palmyra (53.80). Buck Davidson and Mystic Mike, the only American combination to complete the French event, finished 27th (108.00). Pippa Funnell (GBR) wins Badminton with a clean Show Jumping, adding just one time fault. Amy Tryon (USA) finishes 11th, on 61.00

Amy Tryon (USA) has finished the Cross Country with My Beau with no jumping faults and 6.4 time faults, for a total of 49.0, currently placing her in 8th place.

With 18 horses left to run at Badminton, Andrew Hoy leads on Darien Powers (37.61); Polly Stockton is 2nd with Eye Spy II (45.8); and Blyth Tait is 3rd with Welton Envoy (46.4). The over night leader, Pippa Funnell is still to go, as is American Amy Tryon. Ann Taylor (USA) retired after a refusal at the double corners.

Good news this morning about Dunrath Alto, Lauren Hart O'Brien's horse who was a late scratch from Badminton due to a schooling injury. He has been to a veterinary hospital for x-rays and has no serious injury. He will remain on this side of the Atlantic and go to the Punchestown CCI***, in Ireland, in two weeks time.

 

Rolex-Kentucky CCI****

Kim Vinoski (USA) won Rolex-Kentucky on a score of 56.20, a mere .41 of a fault ahead of John Williams (USA), on 56.61. Kim had two down in the Show Jumping, while John had only one, to rise from third to second. Amy Tryon (USA) was one of only four to jump clean in the stadium and moved up to third place on 59.80.

William Fox-Pitt (GBR) dropped to fourth with three rails down for 60.60, but won the Leading Foreign Rider Award.
