About Us
Bits and Pieces

December 5, 2003: Pippa Funnell, Eventing's Rolex Grand Slam winner (Rolex-Kentucky CCI****, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton CCI****, and Burghley Masterfoods Horse Trials CCI**** consecutively) was named The Sunday Times of London's Sportswoman of the Year, last Sunday, November 30th. She beat out sailor Emma Richards, who placed 2nd, and cyclist Nicole Cooke, who placed 3rd.

December 4, 2003: Abigail Lufkin will be competing at The Auckland Airport/Regency Three Day Event CCI*** (Puhinui) this weekend, December 4 - 7, on Kildonan Tug, previously ridden by Australia's Tim Boland. Horse Magazine (of Australia) reported in its December, 2003 issue: "Sold, Kildonan Tug, Tim Boland's eventer for a reputed $400,000 (AUD) - a new record for an eventer sold out of Australia. Tug was bred at the famous Kildonan stud of the Gunn family" (At the December 5th exchange rate of AUD = 0.733909, Tug's reported price converts to $293,563.79 US.)

December 4, 2003: Word has been received from North Carolina that Will Faudree, a member of the USET's Gold Medal Pan American Championship Team, has rented a barn in Southern Pines. Apparently he has left The Fork and Jim Cogden.

December 5, 2003: eventing etc.com is sad to report that Charlie Plumb's former steeplechase champion Muscle Car had to be put down after a recent fall at Pine Top and sends sympathy to Charlie and Muscle Car's connections.

The October 23 issue of Horse and Hound reports the following:

"Don't Step Back, the much admired grey horse ridden into 10th place at Badminton (2003) by Irish rider Trish Donegan, has been sold for a six figure sum to American rider Abigail Lufkin. The horse - which British owners also had their eyes on - was a member of the Irish Olympic, World and European teams."

Trish Donegan and Don't Step Back finished 25th at the European Championships at Punchestown, Ireland, in September. Their Dressage score was 55.80 for 39th place. They incurred 27.60 time faults on Cross Country, for 25th place, and 4 faults in Show Jumping for a final score of 87.40.

Editor's Note: No one, even if they are so cash poor that they are sleeping in the hay loft, ever sells a horse they think might win them an Olympic Medal.
